Golden Hour: Behind the Editorial

Golden Hour: Behind the Editorial

Every photographer will tell you golden hour is sixty minutes. On a marble staircase facing west, it is seventeen. We built the entire editorial around those seventeen minutes.

The location — a brutalist atrium outside the city — was chosen for how it argues with the clothes. Hard stone, liquid silk. The tension is the picture.

Our model walked the staircase forty-one times. The frame we kept is number thirty-eight: the one where the train catches the step and the light at the same instant, and the whole image exhales.

What you cannot see in the photographs: the silence on set when it happened. Twelve people, nobody breathing. That silence is what we are really selling.

The collection photographed here — the gowns, the gold, the champagne silks — is in the lookbook now. The seventeen minutes are yours to keep.
